Nesting.

The Clemson Clay Nest was a public land art installation by Bavarian artist Nils-Udo that was constructed in the botanical gardens at Clemson University in South Carolina in 2005. The nest was built with the assistance of numerous students and other volunteers using 80 tons of pine logs harvested from the local Oconee County pine plantation and hundreds of bamboo stocks. You can see many more of the work in these photos by Dylan Wolfe.

This is a momentous weekend for me as I move out of the only home I've known in the city and begin to build a nest. I've cherished every moment in Russian Hill with the ladies I've shared my home and life with for the last six years, and hold these memories and friendships very close to my heart.

Odds.

I don't care how sophisticated your literary tastes, you will enjoy The Hunger Games. I don't think I slept before 2am until I finished the series... and even then, I had to reluctantly force myself to to turn out the lights.  (Am I geeking out about the movie? Oh yeah.)

Naturally, I am drawn to this poster (and infamous line) by Entropy Trading Co.  Isn't it lovely?

Also... the odds seem to indeed be in my favor at the moment, a fact that is incredibly thrilling (and overwhelming). Dreams are coming true my friends... I could not have done it without your love and support. Details soon.

XOXO

Incepted.

This ought to perk up those dull Monday morning senses!  Check out Vivian Chiu's Inception Chair. Like the movie, the chair has layers of itself within itself within itself.... what witty design!

Vivian is a recent graduate from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and focuses on sculpture and furniture design.

Tiny Prints.

While I [procrastinate on -- I mean] upload and organize photos from this weekend at Lake Huntington, I thought you might enjoy this adorable DIY: tiny polaroid magnets, by Jennifer Kirk at Ambrosia Creative.

Cute, no?
Happy Monday!

Paint the Town.... Modern Rainbows.

Dutch artists Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn — who work under the name Haas&Hahn— want to paint New York neon... at least part of it. In an exhibition opening at Storefront this weekend, they're proposing an "intervention" into Lower Manhattan's low-income housing.

They've already completed paintings in a Brazilian favela — a project that combines art and activism. In collaboration with young people from the area, they've been decorating the slums of Rio and Sao Paulo with giant rainbow-colored murals.

Inspired by the Farmer's Market.

I've been waiting for The Gardener to restock these all winter, and alas, as the bounty spring makes its way to the Farmer's Market, so have these lovely Jayson Home baskets!!

Though initially enticed by the strawberry basket (also recently spotted at Anthropology), the more rational kitchen gadget consumer in me chose to take home the plum basket today at lunch!

Inspired by Glass.

I've been lusting after these Heather Palmer nests since last fall, I think they are simply stunning!
